Lamb Sprains Ankle

Jeremy Lamb (UConn Athletics)

Connecticut sophomore guard Jeremy Lamb sprained his right ankle in practice Saturday. UConn's athletic communications office said Lamb's status for Sunday's game against Coppin State would be a game-time decision.

Lamb, a preseason All-American and candidate for national player of the year awards, is leading the Huskies in scoring with a 22.0 average through three games. Lamb is averaging 38.3 minutes and shooting 45.8 percent from the field.

UConn already has been shorthanded in the backcourt this season. Freshman point Ryan Boatright was the subject of an eligibility review. The NCAA ruled Friday that Boatright has been suspended for six games. He won't be eligible to play until Nov. 26.

Tipoff for the Coppin State game Sunday is at 1 p.m. at the XL Center. UConn leaves Monday morning for the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas. Recommended Stories
