Aaron Batten held several BCS offers before pledging to Kent State earlier this month, but he took an additional visit over the weekend and changed his mind.
Syracuse hosted the 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end from Miami (Fla.) Dade Christian, and it led to a verbal commitment from the senior on Sunday.
"I am committed to Syracuse University for football," he confirmed to CuseNation.com via text while in class Wednesday. "I feel great about it, it was a better opportunity for me."
Batten joins fellow Floridian Tyler Provo (Delray Beach, Fla./American Heritage) as the only two tight end commitments in the class of 2013 for the Orange. In the 2012 cycle, SU also brought in two players at the position as Ron Thompson and Josh Parris signed letters of intent in February.
CuseNaiton.com will have much more with this developing story later in the day when Batten is available for further comment.
