"I got my first offer from Maryland a couple weeks ago," said Eberle. "I was real excited because I have built up a pretty good relationship with Coach Tom Brattan (offensive line coach). I was also excited because it's close to my house and they are going to be playing in the Big Ten."
Eberle is also attracting interest from Connecticut, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Rice, South Florida, Temple, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.
Eberle visited North Carolina last weekend. He will visit Florida State, Penn State, and Wake Forest in March. He also mentioned possible trips to Clemson and Georgia later this spring.
Do not expect the Atlee star to wait very long to make his decision.
"I kind of want to know where I'm going by June or the beginning of my season," said the 6-foot-4 ½. 270-pound Eberle. "Then I will be able to focus high school football. After high school football is over, I can turn my focus to college football."
Certain factors will go into his decision.
"Academics is a big thing for me," he said. "I'm also a big weight room guy, so I'll look at that. I want to make sure that the coaching staff and players are like a family because that's how it is at my high school. The school's atmosphere will be important, too."
Eberle finished last season with 28 solo tackles, 10 sacks, and five forced fumbles on defense. Offensively, he had 30 pancake blocks.
Update: Eberle was offered by Connecticut over the weekend.
