Kashif Moore, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound wide receiver from Burlington Township High in Burlington, N.J. offered a verbal commitment to the Connecticut Huskies today. Scout.com caught up with Moore and discussed his commitment with him.
“I called Coach (Matt) Cersosimo today at 1:30pm and told him I wanted to be a Husky,” Moore said. “He was really excited and had me call Coach (Randy) Edsall on vacation, so I got to talk to him and let him know my decision.”
“With Connecticut it really came down to the attention they gave me after the Elite Combine. They worked really hard keeping constant contact with me and really made me feel wanted.
“I got an offer in the mail from them immediately after I went up there for camp and knowing that I wasn’t just a back-up plan is a great feeling. Obviously I want to play somewhere that wants me.”
Not only has Moore already chosen the school he will attend, but he’s focused on his future area of study and has goals set for after football.
“I’m going to be majoring in Business Management and want to take over my father’s real estate business after I’m done with football.”
Moore is an extremely explosive player who size belies his toughness. The diminutive receiver is willing to go over the middle for a catch and he’s effective at catching balls that are thrown outside of his body.
The standout track athlete also shows promise as a punt and kick returner – his speed and ability to change direction and recognize a crease make him difficult to bring down in the open field.
