Huskies in the Mix for Trawick

The Connecticut coaching staff went all the way to Marietta, Ga., in search of a safety months ago when they offered Brynden Trawick. This outstanding athlete already has been offered by eleven programs throughout the country and pulling a Georgia player out of the South is tough to do, but right now it is an even playing ground according to Trawick.
While
Connecticut
already has a verbal commitment from one free safety in
Matt Edwards
, adding a player like Sprayberry High School safety
Brynden Trawick
to the mix would only give the Huskies another talented player in the defensive backfield to compete for playing time. This 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has already picked up offers from Mississippi,
Mississippi State
,
Louisiana Tech
,
Boston College
, Connecticut,
Purdue
,
Indiana
,
Maryland
,
Michigan State
and
Middle Tennessee
State, however at this point he is keeping all of his options open.
“Coach (Lyndon) Johnson has been recruiting me for Connecticut and we have built a good relationship to this point,” Trawick stated. “We text back and forth and talk on the phone once in a while and he really has been trying to get me up on campus which I am planning to do either late this summer or for an official visit during the season. I don’t know much about Connecticut as a school or a football program at this point, but I have heard they are good academically and saw that they recently put a lot of money into improving their facilities, so that is definitely something right there.”
“I think the most important things to me right now are the environment of the schools that I am visiting, the quality of education I would receive and just the overall feel I get from the football team itself,” Trawick explained. “I need to feel comfortable on campus and while distance doesn’t matter to me at all, I obviously want to be somewhere that I feel like I fit in and where there is something to do. Tradition is important in terms of football, but more importantly I need to know that my teammates are my brothers and that my coaches are my mentors, always trying to make me a better player and a better person.”
“Right now I have these eleven offers and am just keeping all of my options open, so everyone is on exactly the same level. I’m out here in California right now and just went to
USC
and met with Coach Pete Carroll and I plan on stopping at
UCLA
and
UNLV
too.”
As a junior, Trawick made 74 tackles and had three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He also had four pass breakups. On the offensive side of the ball Trawick played sparingly, but he did haul in eight receptions for 278 yards, averaging an awe inspiring 35 yards per catch. He was named first-team All-League and All-County and the All-State team as an honorable mention selection.
