Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey linebacker Matthew Lyons is one of the top prospects in the city for 2011.
Already, Lyons is hearing from a handful of schools.
“I’ve heard from UCLA, UConn, Washington and Oregon,” said the 6-2, 190-pound Lyons. “I’m really interested in any schools in the Pac-10.”
Lyons plays inside for the Dons but knows the next level could put him outside.
“I want to play wherever I can benefit the team,” said Lyons.
Lyons camped at B2G, USC’s Rising Stars and the FBU camps this spring and summer and plans to take in more camps before his senior year.
He’s also hoping to get done with school early.
“I want to graduate early, so I can be in spring ball,” said Lyons.
Lyons said he’s not getting any family pressure to stay close to home.
“I mean, my mom kind of wants me to stay close, but she just wants me to go to college anywhere,” said Lyons.
Academically, Lyons has a 3.7 GPA and took the SAT earlier this month.
